COLD GREY COFFEE
(To the tune of "Cold Grey Morning," from the Kansas
album Freaks of Nature)
Cold grey coffee, without creamer
Ghostly scum floats on the surface
Empty stirrings of a day-old pot
Paint a picture so distressing
Through my filter, dry-roast leavings--
I feel my brain waves pounding
For the morning I am holding on,
As my caffeine buzz is fading
Such a long time, such a long time
We are waiting for a jolt everlasting
Sipping upward, staring downward
Looks like just a cup of cold grey coffee
Hardly standing, vision clouding
It's the end of my good morning
So-called best part of my waking up:
It's just cold grey coffee
Such a long time, such a long time
We are waiting for a jolt everlasting
Sipping upward, staring downward
Looks like just a cup of cold grey coffee
Such a long time, such a long time
We are waiting for a jolt everlasting
Cup of Folger, House of Maxwell
Looks like just a cup of cold grey coffee
Such a long time, such a long, long time
Jolt everlasting
Choice of Tasters, Eight O'morning
Looks like just a cup of--
Like just a cup of cold grey coffee
